So, this week was crazy, as I've already mentioned. Since we were so busy, I didn't keep up with this post, so it's just not going to happen this week in it's entirety. I hate to miss a week, but sometimes I just have to let something go, and this was it this week!
VBS was so fun this year! We had to be at the church every morning by 8, so that was a bit of a challenge. David helped with Recreation Games, so he was able to help me get the kids ready and out the door every morning, which was a HUGE help. David then went to work after Rec was over. VBS ended at 11:30, and Jude was exhausted when I picked him up every day since he won't nap in the nursery. We went to lunch few times after VBS, and then we would come home and all rest! I had a couple of rough afternoons with over-tired kids who didn't want to nap, but that was pretty expected.
Tuesday night I had Bunco, and I actually won the door prize! Whoo! Then Friday night was the VBS closing ceremony and the rehearsal for a wedding at our church on Saturday. David and I also decided on Friday night to host Father's Day lunch at our house for both of our families. Whew! So, that meant we spent a large part of the day on Saturday cleaning our house. I had kind of let things slide around the house all week, so it needed a good cleaning! I had the wedding at church at 5:00 that evening, so David kept the kids while I went to that. Apparently Aubrey was pretty terrible while I was gone. She had a huge meltdown and just wasn't happy. She had a runny nose and bad cough, and she didn't seem to feel well :( We grabbed dinner after I got home from the wedding, and then we ran a few errands before coming home for bed.
Now I'm busy packing because we're going to the BEACH tomorrow! Sadly, David isn't going this time because he has to work :( We're going to miss him! Aubrey, Jude, and I are going with my mom and brothers, and we're excited. I'm a little nervous about how it's going to go without David there, though. Hopefully I'll get some sleep! Aubrey has already told me that she will not be sleeping while we're at the beach. Ugh! I think it should be a fun, low-key week, though, and I figure Aubrey HAS to sleep at some point?! I hope..... :)

Staying Busy
You might have noticed (or maybe not) that I've been a bit MIA on the blog this week. The reason for that is that it's been VBS week at our church, and wow! It's been fun but so exhausting! I was literally at the church today from 8am to 7:45pm, and my poor sweet babies were there the whole day, too. With no naps. They've been troopers this week, but I know they are just beyond exhausted.
Rebekkah and I were in charge of kids snacks this week at VBS, and it was so fun! We didn't want to just give them pre-packaged stuff everyday, so we ended up creating a ton of work for ourselves and making a lot of the snacks. We also thought it would be super cute to stick with our "Summer Seaquest" theme and used cookie cutters to cut out fish shapes from rice krispie treats and other things. Well, it WAS cute, but it also took forever. We were in a race against time everyday trying to get all the snacks made, bagged up, and delivered to the rooms by 10:00. There were some stressful moments, but it really was fun, and we think we want to do it again next year with our newly acquired wisdom of what does and doesn't work for kids VBS snacks ;)
The two of us were also in charge of decorating for our little closing ceremony tonight. That was why I spent the whole day at church today. We kept it pretty simple and just did tons of bright balloons and bright table cloths, and it turned out really cute! It still took forever to get it all done, though. Rebekkah and I really work well together, and we enjoy doing that kind of thing. We were laughing today and saying that other people would probably hate to work with us because we kind of have our own little language when we're planning these kinds of things. I'm pretty sure we don't speak in complete sentences or finish all of our thoughts, but we get it. Ha! ;)
THEN, after being at the church all afternoon, we had a wedding rehearsal tonight. (Remember, Rebekkah is the wedding coordinator at our church, and I'm her assistant.) It went really well and was thankfully pretty simple and quick! We even made it back over to the fellowship hall in time for the VBS closing program. Tomorrow is the wedding, and then that should end all of the crazy busyness for a while. It always comes all at once, doesn't it?!
On top of all the busyness this week, Aubrey came down with a cold, and I think Jude might be working on one, too. Apparently a lot of the little kids in the nursery got colds this week. Because of the congestion, Aubrey and Jude haven't been sleeping well. So, we're all running on little sleep. We're praying that they will be able to get some good rest tonight. And on that note, I think I'm going to go to bed while all is quiet :) Have a good weekend!

Easter Weekend 2011
As I mentioned in my last post, we had our church Easter egg hunt on Saturday morning. It was so fun, and Aubrey really enjoyed it! The eggs didn't last long, but there were plenty of other fun things to do after the eggs had all been found.

Oh, and since I'm pretty much the most unorganized person on the face of the planet, I realized on Friday night that I had never done anything about getting an Easter basket for Aubrey. David's mom gave me some cute little baskets, but they needed to be painted, and I just never had a chance to work on them. So, as I was running out the door for the egg hunt on Saturday morning (I had to be there early), I looked around the house and saw this plastic "basket" and called it a day. So, yeah, my child was basically walking around with a mini laundry basket collecting her eggs. Ha! We're pretty "laid back" over here. (That's a nice way of putting it ;) I like to think of myself as a "free spirit" and I'm ok with that.) I'm totally the mom who plans to get super cute monogrammed/painted/embellished baskets (or whatever), and then just never follows through. Oops!

Jude just chilled in the stroller almost the whole time. We got him out for a little while, but he was just so sweet and perfectly content to sit and watch the action.

Mommies and their sons :)
Aubrey and Carver had some fun jumping together. Those two are so funny. They pull each other's hair and play SO rough and just think it's hilarious. They act like they're brother and sister. And Aubrey is more rough than a little boy, I think! :)
Silly girl!
The next day was Easter Sunday! David and I had nursery duty during church, and I have to admit that I was a little disappointed to miss church. I love our Easter service. But it's a joy to serve by taking care of the sweet babies, and thankfully, we can worship our RISEN Lord anywhere and anytime! :) After church, we got my family to snap some pictures of us before we left. I'm glad we did, because these ended up being the only family pictures we got that day! Aubrey wasn't the most cooperative for the pictures, but what else is new? Haha.
Aubrey decided that she wanted to sit in the monkey grass, so we just joined her down there :)
Sweet Jude with Mommy and Daddy. I would have loved to have gotten a picture with my sweet girl, too, but she wouldn't hold still for half a second.

Jude and "The Uncles." :)
Once we got over to David's parents' house where we were eating lunch, Jude was sacked out.
Then it was lunchtime, and he promptly got green beans on his white outfit. And that was the end of picture time ;)
We did get a few more of Aubrey, though. (Action shots, of course!)
She always has so much fun playing with the toys at Dee Dee's house. Notice her bracelet. She was SO proud of that bracelet. I wore a pearl bracelet, too, and she thought it was pretty cool that we had "matching " bracelets.
She helped Dee Dee decorate this cute little lamb cake that we had for dessert.

We had a great Easter! As cute as Easter egg hunts, and new clothes, and white shoes are, I pray that we don't get caught up in that and always remember WHY we celebrate Easter Sunday.
"And as He stands in Victory,
Sin's curse has lost it's grip on me!"
Christ has defeated death and sin and has the victory! Hallelujah to our RISEN Lord!
