Week in Review: Highlights Edition

I have GOT to start doing better with these posts. They are so late every week, and it takes forever to do them if I don't stay on top of it. I really love being able to look back on random weeks in our life, so I don't want to quit doing my Week in Review posts. But because I don't want to waste an entire naptime on this post today, I'm just going to do a "highlights" version this time. We were really busy last week! It was definitely our busiest week since Alaina was born. It was fun stuff though, and it felt good to be on the go again! So, here are some of the things that kept us busy last week:

-David's sisters were in town for Easter, and we got to spend a little time with them. Sadly, David's mom got sick, so we weren't able to spend as much time with them as we had planned :( We wanted to be extra careful about exposing Alaina to any possible germs since she's still so little, but we hated that we didn't get to see them as much as we wanted. Aubrey did get to have a fun playdate with her cousin Caroline at the beginning of the week, and we had dinner with them one night. The cousins! Jude wasn't feeling the pictures :-/

-The kids and I went over to the Herrington's house one day for lunch and a playdate. We had a lot of fun, and Aubrey and Ann Peyton played really well together. Everything was going great until the very end when Alaina got fussy. It was time for her to eat, so I fed her quickly before we were going to leave. I don't think she got completely full, but we only live 10 minutes away, so I was going to finish feeding her when we got home. Of course, she screamed when I was getting her in her carseat, and then Jude had a dirty diaper. I had to change him while he fussed and Alaina screamed. SD was so sweet, but I'm sure she was about ready to bid us farewell. Ha! We were finally ready to walk out the door, but I couldn't find my keys. I looked all around Sarah Denley's house, in my purse, and then in my car (I had thankfully left it unlocked). Those keys were NOWHERE to be found. We even went through our lunch trash. I was trying to keep calm, but I knew I needed to get the kids home for their naps. After looking for the keys for a long time, I decided that they were just gone. So, Peyton put Alaina's carseat in SD's car for me (I didn't know how to move the carseat base until that day -- ha!), and I left Aubrey and Jude with SD while I drove home and got my spare keys. It was a fiasco. I felt awful just leaving Sarah Denley with my kids when I knew it was everyone's naptime, but I didn't see another option. I finally got back, put Alaina's carseat back in our car, got Aubrey and Jude loaded up, and we left to go home. And I found my keys in the car before we even got all the way home. Ughhhh. Can I just blame it on the lack of sleep?! Haha!Yummy!

-My sweet friend Gray came over for lunch one day. She's the friend who has been in Africa for the past 6 months, and I'm so happy that she's back in town and that we get to hang out again! She is one of my oldest friends, and I'm so happy that we keep in touch and still have a great friendship even though we're in different stages of life. My loud kids probably totally overwhelmed her, but she was really sweet with them :) Aubrey especially loved Gray. She was mad when I made her go upstairs for her rest time. I enjoyed some quiet, adult conversation with Gray while the kids napped, though ;)This is the best I've been able to do when it comes to a picture of all three kids. Ha!

-I went to a Ladies Night Out with some friends from church... with Alaina, of course! :) She slept almost the whole time, and I had a nice evening out.

-I had waited until the LAST minute to find an Easter outfit for Jude. I had matching dresses for the girls (it's so fun to say that!), and I wanted to find an outfit for Jude that would coordinate. David got home from work a little early on Thursday, so I was able to go shopping by myself for a little while. So nice! I couldn't find anything for Jude that coordinated with Aubrey and Alaina's dresses, so I just gave up and got him something totally different. He was the odd man out! That's probably going to be the story of his life with his two sisters :) I also found some dress shoes for Aubrey. I think I mentioned that she is extremely picky and couldn't find any white shoes that she was fond of. I saw some while I was out shopping that I thought she might like, so I got them. It was so last minute at that point, that I was going to tell her that we were keeping them and she was wearing them even if they weren't her favorite. Well, no need for that! She LOVES these shoes and wants to wear them everywhere. It's kind of a problem because they are already starting to look a little shabby and it hasn't even been a week, and I would like to keep this one pair of shoes nice for church! At least she likes them!

-We had a Maundy Thursday Communion service at church. I didn't get to sit through the whole thing because Alaina got fussy, but it was a nice service.

-David had Good Friday off, so he took Aubrey and Jude to the Children's Museum that morning. They had a lot of fun! Alaina and I stayed home and went to the grocery store. After David and Aubrey and Jude got home, my family came over to bring a little dog over to meet Knightly. The dog is a Beagle and it belongs to my dad, but Aubrey really fell in love with this dog. I think she likes that the dog is little. Well, my dad wants to get rid of the dog and he offered to give her to us since Aubrey likes her so much. We wanted to see how this dog and Knightly got along before we agreed to take her, so that afternoon was our trial run. Knightly was SUPER interested in her, but he wasn't aggressive at all, so I think we're going to get her! I hope Knightly will like having a little friend. By the way, the dog's name is currently "Cry Baby" but I totally think we need to change her name to "Emma." We have a Knightly so we NEED an Emma, right?!This is what happens when Daddy is supervising outdoor play. Aubrey said these leggings were her "rags." Ummm... well, I guess they are now!

-That afternoon, I cooked a meal for the Arants who just had a sweet baby boy! I delivered the meal that evening, and it was so fun to meet baby Walker! He's adorable and only about a week younger than Alaina. I can't wait to introduce them soon! It was nice to catch up with Rebekkah -- we both said that maybe one day (hopefully soon) our lives will settle down and we can resume our regular get-togethers :)

-Saturday we had a church Easter egg hunt. The kids really enjoyed it! Jude thought the eggs were "balls." It was super cute!Mouth full of candy!

-That evening, we got together with my family. My aunt was in town from Tennessee, so it was fun to see her and introduce her to Alaina. We went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant after trying a few other places that had a 1 1/2 - 2 hour wait. Crazy! My grandfather with my girls!

I think that about sums up most of our week. It was crazy but fun! :) Hopefully I'll do better with my blogging this week. I hate it when I want to blog, but I can't find the time. I'm reminding myself that at some point, Alaina WILL have a regular (early) bedtime and I'll have my evenings back :)
