More Medicine

I did end up taking Aubrey to the doctor yesterday. She has the exact same thing she had several weeks ago -- the beginnings of ear infections in both ears and wheezing. So we started another antibiotic and are doing breathing treatments again. Fun stuff.

David and I also decided to take her back to the chiropractor today. After we took her last time, she didn't get another ear infection for months. Maybe it was a coincidence, but since it's cheap to take her, we figured it can't hurt to try. The chiropractor said her neck was out of line and adjusted it, so we'll see what happens.

While we were at the doctor yesterday, we did a little impromptu 15 month checkup since I had never taken her in for one. Oops. Aubrey weighs 24 pounds, 2 ounces putting her in the 60th percentile for weight. She is 31 inches tall which is the 50th percentile. She is a nicely proportioned girl :) I asked our pediatrician about Aubrey's talking. I feel like she "talks" constantly but she doesn't say many recognizable words at this point other than Mama and Dada. Our doctor said the things they look for at 15 months are lots of babbling, word recognition (pointing at things when you say the word), and that they are social and affectionate towards family members. Check, check, check. Aubrey definitely is VERY social -- she blows kisses to everyone she sees. Haha. And she can point to LOTS of body parts and follow simple commands. Of course, some kids will be saying lots of real words at 15 months old, but some won't and that's ok. The doctor said that if she didn't babble something could be wrong with her hearing, if she hadn't started to recognize words something could be wrong with her brain, and no pointing or affection could be red flags for autism. Thankfully, Aubrey seems to be just fine in her development for her age, and she said we will probably start to hear lots of real words in the next 3 months.

So, that's what we've been up to! I'll be happy when cold and flu season is over and we can stay well for hopefully a long time!

You must be ready for spring! I saw your comment about painting. Here's the scoop - we have moved 4 times in the last 5 years and this was one of my requirements for this move. I have painted two houses from top to bottom and I am DONE! Maybe if we stay somewhere for longer than a year than I will pick up a paintbrush again. HA!

Hey, I just had a thought. Do her teeth affect her talking? I know she's right on range with where she should be, but that was my little curious moment while reading. :)
