Night Time Adventures

I am blessed that Aubrey really is a good sleeper. Those of you who know me know that I need my sleep. :o) She usually goes right to sleep when I put her in her bed. She is still sleeping in her pack-n-play in our room. I've been talking about putting her in her own room soon, but I haven't gotten up the courage to do it. The thought of my baby on the other side of the house all by herself kind of makes me sad. Well, I guess technically she wouldn't be all by herself. Knightly sleeps on that side of the house too. She's really sleeping well enough now to be on the other side of the the house though. She wakes up between 5-6 to eat and then goes back to sleep. Since David gets up at 5:45, he is usually up by the time I'm done feeding her. So I let her sleep with me from then on. It's just easier for me because I can stick the paci in her mouth when she gets fussy without getting up. It buys me a little extra sleep. Plus, I like having her with me. :o)

David was the guy who swore before she was born that she was never going to sleep with us. He did NOT want a child in the bed with us. Well, he changed his mind shortly after she was born. Now he actually enjoys having her in the bed with us. We don't let her sleep with us all night long, but when we're taking naps or trying to sleep in on Saturdays, he likes to put her in the bed with us. It's so cute. Don't worry, we're really careful when we let her sleep with us.

Anyway, I don't want to start any habits that I'm going to have a hard time breaking down the road. I don't want a 5 year old who can't sleep by herself. So, like I said, we don't let her sleep with us all night long. She always starts out in her own bed. That is until she wouldn't go to sleep the other night. I kept having to get up and put the pacifier in her mouth, and it was really cold in our room so I decided to lay her in our bed for a minute to see of she would go to sleep. Of course she went right to sleep. I waited a while to make sure she was really asleep and then put her in her bed. Well, apparently a little while later (according to David) I sat up in a panic and said, "Where is the baby?!" David was half asleep and very confused. I then said something like, "Where is Aubrey?! She was just here and now she's GONE!!" I must have then realized what was going on because I said, "Oh. She's in her bed." David said when I was in my state of panic, he had this image that she had somehow fallen through the mattress and was on the floor. He must not have been too worried though, because he went on back to sleep without making sure she was actually in her bed. I don't remember any of this, by the way.

Hopefully we never have any emergencies in the middle of the night because David and I are pretty out of it apparently. Thankfully, all three of us got a good nights sleep in our beds. No falling through the mattresses reported that night. :o)

I am so glad to hear your baby is sleeping so well! Charlotte did the same thing! She slept in her pack-n-play until her daddy put her in our bed! We are currently working on getting her out of our bed...not going so great yet! :)I love hearing about your baby...she's so gorgeous!

This is quite humorous. You never realize what you're capable of until you have a child.

No worries on bad habits. Carter slept in our bed until he was 15 months old. At that point, I put my foot down and booted him to his bed. He transitioned fine, and I am proud to report that at the age of almost six, he sleeps GREAT in his own bed...
