Sunday: We got up and got ready for church. I put a roast in the crockpot for lunch, and then we left. Aubrey went into big church with us, and she did great. She was a little squirmy, but that's to be expected, especially since she stayed in there for the whole service. After church, we went to Sunday School, and then we came home and ate lunch.
Sweet girl reading :) |
Monday: When the kids got up, we ate breakfast, and then we got ready to go to the gym.
Watching the rain |
Tuesday: That morning, we got ready and went went to church for Circle. I dropped the kids off in the nursery, and then I went to Circle (we meet at someone's house). We had a good study time, but when it was time to go, it was pouring down rain. My car was parked way down the street, so I borrowed an umbrella. I still got pretty soaked, though. I went back to church to pick up the kids, and we ended up staying for lunch. I brought the kids home for their naps, and I basically sat and chilled during naptime :) When they woke up, I got them a snack, and we waited for David to get home.
Getting some love from Cry Baby :) |
Wednesday: Oh, man. This turned into a stressful day. I had decided that I would skip that gym that morning because I was supposed to take a dish to small group that evening, and I needed to go to the grocery store and cook whatever I was going to take. Also, I just needed to start getting the house ready for Jude's party that weekend. Aubrey and Jude and I had a fine morning while Alaina slept in. We ate breakfast and were just hanging out. I started to get worried about leaving Alaina with a sitter that night because I knew she would be fussy, and she hasn't been taking a bottle very well lately. Plus, small group got changed from 6 to 6:30, which was going to put us getting home even later. I called David sp that he could talk me down from my anxiety over leaving her. Meanwhile, the kids and I were all in my bedroom, and Alaina was laying on my bed, and Aubrey and Jude were talking to her. I was right there, and I'm not even sure what happened because it was just so fast, but Jude somehow ended up (accidentally) headbutting Alaina. She started screaming so I hung up with David really quickly and picked her up. The next thing I knew, it was like she was holding her breath or something, and then she just got quiet very suddenly. I can't even really describe what she did, but it just seemed weird and scared me TO DEATH. I called David back freaking out, and of course he had no clue what was going on, and then I practically hung up on him so that I could call the doctor. Poor David. Anyway, I was so panicked when I was talking to the nurse, and she probably thought I was a nut job. At first, she thought I might need to take Alaina to have her head x-rayed (!!!), but then once I told her that Alaina was acting totally normal at that point, she asked the doctor what I should do. They told me to just watch her carefully, and if she acted weird to take her to the ER. They thought it sounded like Alaina just lost her breath because she was screaming. In hindsight, I guess that is what happened because she was perfectly normal after that, and she never even had a mark where she got bumped. It just scared me so bad, though. Anyway, I pretty much spent the rest of the day staring at Alaina to make sure she was fine. There was no way I was going to the grocery store after all of that. I kept Alaina up for a couple of hours, and then we went outside and Aubrey and Jude played on the deck while Alaina napped in my arms. We came inside and ate lunch, and then I put Aubrey and Jude down for naps. I got Alaina to sleep in my bed so that I could keep a closer eye on her while she napped. I was in and out of my room the whole time she was asleep. I took a shower and got ready, and I cleaned up the house and gave Alaina a bath. When David got home, he helped me get everything ready for the sitter. A sweet girl came over to watch Aubrey and Jude (no way was I leaving Alaina after the fiasco that morning) while we went to small group. David, Alaina, and I loaded up and left. We had to stop by Newk's on the way there to pick up some pimiento cheese since I didn't get to cook anything for small group. We were running pretty late, but we had fun once we got there. Alaina got fussy, so I spent most of small group in a guest bedroom holding, bouncing, and nursing Alaina to sleep. It was worth it to have her there for my peace of mind, though! We came back home when our small group was over, and the kids had had a lot of fun with the babysitter :) We got them all to bed when she left, and I was about ready to just go to bed myself. I felt a bit mentally exhausted after all the stress of the day :/ (By the way, Alaina was totally fine. She never had any issues, so I now think the whole thing just scared her more than hurt her.)
Thursday: We had another low-key morning at home. Thankfully, it was much more uneventful than the morning before ;)
We played outside that morning, and somebody got into some mud. |
Friday: The kids and I got up and got ready, and we left to go to Sarah Denley's house for lunch. We drove through Chick Fil A, and when we got to the Herrington's, it was pouring down rain. I had to make several trips with the food, drinks, and children, but Peyton was sweet to help me :) We had fun visiting and playing with the Herringtons! We were getting ready to head out when it started pouring again, so we stayed a little longer :) When we got home, I put the kids right down for naps. It took me forever to get Alaina settled, but she finally got into a good sleep. I made a grocery list for Jude's party, and David got home. We got the kids ready and went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. Then we ran several errands and finished off the night at Kroger. When we got home, we put the kids to bed, and then I worked on cleaning the house, and David made a banner for Jude's party. We stayed up pretty late getting things ready.
Saturday: David got up with Aubrey and Jude, and they went to the Farmer's Market for breakfast and milk. Alaina and I stayed home to get a little more sleep :) And to get things ready for the party, of course. Ha! I took a shower and got dressed before Alaina got up, and then she and I left to go meet a sweet friend of a friend who had made Jude's birthday cake. Alaina got a nice little car nap, and we got the cake and made it back home. David and the kids had gotten home and eaten lunch, and David was bathing them when I got there. He then put them down for naps, and I tried to get Alaina down. She wouldn't go to sleep, and Jude was protesting his nap, and things got a little tense at that point. I just felt like I had a lot to do, and I needed them to take good naps. Thankfully, they both did end up going to sleep. I got the food ready and we finished up last minute cleaning. My brother and his girlfriend came a little early, and we got everything finished just as everyone was arriving :) It was a low-key, small party, but I think it was just perfect for a 2 year old.
It started raining towards the end of the party, and Aubrey, Jude, and Ann Peyton went outside with my dad and played in the rain. It was such a simple thing, but it was SO sweet to see them having so much fun. It was neat because I had just been telling SD that I felt kind of bad that I didn't have any planned "activities" for the party. And then the kids were splashing in the water and playing with their umbrellas and laughing, and it reminded me that children don't require anything elaborate. Sometimes I put so much pressure on myself to make everything "perfect" and really all my kids need is to be surrounded by our families who adore them and their precious friends, and they have the time of their lives creating sweet memories :) Anyway, I have tons of pictures from the party, so I'll do a separate post with those. After the guests left, my parents were still here, and my brother was helping Jude put his new toys together. We decided to all go get dinner at Corner Bakery. That was fun, and then we went to Kroger after dinner. By the time we got home and got the groceries unloaded and the babies to bed, I was ready for bed myself!

I was hoping you wouldn't say you went to the Farmer's Market. It's hard being friends with Super Mom ;)
Seeing them play in the rain was the cutest thing and I'm glad it brought you some peace about the lack of planned activities.
That said, if you do plan to keep doing water parties, I found the cutest little game that would go with an "Under the Sea" theme. I'll have to tell you about it, so you can put it in your party folder. Oh wait, you plan your parties days in advance...Super Mom.
Can't wait to see the pictures. It's always so much fun, even when I was there!
