What's in a name?

David and I have finally decided on a name for our baby. It's the name that I've mentioned that David really likes. I think the name is beautiful too, so I decided that we could go for it :) I think I will love it more and more as we start using it to refer to her. So without further ado, our baby girl's name is....

Alaina Ruth Howie

When we told Aubrey her little sister's name, she informed us that she likes Leepooh better ;) Haha! We told her that she could call her Alaina Leepooh -- that could be her special nickname from her big sister. Ha!

The baby will most likely go by just Alaina. We aren't going to say that it's a double name, but I do think Alaina Ruth has a cute little ring to it, so I might call her Alaina Ruth some :) I do love a double name!

We decided to spell it with an "A" (as opposed to Elaina) for a couple of reasons. First, we want it pronounced "Uh-lane-uh" and not "E-lane-uh." I think most of us from the South would pronounce both spellings the same, but I wanted to make sure. Haha! Also, Aubrey has several outfits that are monogrammed with an "A" only, so we will be able to re-use those. And now I have a perfect excuse to monogram ALL of Aubrey's clothes with a "A" going forward. Ha! ;)

So, that's our baby's name, and we are so excited for Alaina Ruth to join our family!!

Beautiful name! I also love how you said people from the South would pronounce it the same! That made me laugh. Some people like to call Evie - eee-vee instead of Evie like Chevy - got that from Ashley!

I love it! And, I love that it's another A. This baby was going to be Aubrey if he had been a girl, and we'll most likely have an Aubrey if we have another girl. The monogrammed clothes was one reason! So, so exciting to now refer to her by name!

Beautiful name! It's a good thing you mentioned the pronunciation because in Canada I would read it as "Ah-lane-Ah". Looking forward to meeting you, Alaina Ruth!
