What a week, what a week! This was literally the most crazy week I can remember us having. I feel like we spent the majority of it in doctors' offices! We are so thankful it's behind us, and we are all doing fine now. Aubrey's collar bone seems to be on the mend. She is still really careful about moving it, and sometimes when we're putting her shirts on or taking them off, it hurts her and she kind of cries, but she really has been a trooper! Also, as I'm sure you can imagine, there wasn't a lot of picture taking going on this week. I need to do better about that!
Sunday: We went to church and Sunday School. Thankfully, even though Jude cried when we dropped him off, he did much better than the week before. I hope he gets over this separation anxiety soon -- it breaks my heart! We had a nice time at church, and we came home for spaghetti for lunch. After we ate, I put Aubrey down for her nap and then took a nap myself. David put Jude down, and apparently neither child napped that afternoon :/ Jude took a 40 minute nap in the nursery that morning, and I was worried that he wouldn't nap that afternoon after that. When I got up, he was pretty exhausted and fussy. Both kids fell asleep in the car on the way to church. They did fine in the nursery, though. They said Jude was a little clingy. After church, we had fellowship and snack time, and that was fun. We came home and put two exhausted children to bed. I got on the internet for a little while, and David and I ended up going to bed early.
Monday: I got up EARLY because I had my yearly checkup that morning. It was at 8:15, so David stayed home with the kids and just went to work a little late. I didn't have to wait, so that was nice. David met me with the kids, so that I wouldn't have to go all the way home before he could head to work. We met at Chick Fil A, so OF COURSE the kids and I just had to go in and eat breakfast ;) We played in the play area after we ate, and then we went to Target. When we got home, we played until lunch time, and then I put Jude down for a nap. Aubrey went down shortly after Jude, and they both slept for a good long while. I read and got on the internet while they slept. When they woke up, I blogged, and then we played some more. Jude got pretty fussy. David had karate that evening, so he was going to be home later. I wanted to get out of the house, so the kids and I loaded up in the car and drove around for a while. Then we picked up some dinner and came home and ate. Jude was still pretty fussy, so I got him ready for bed and put him down a little early. David got home and put Aubrey to bed, and Rebekkah and I went to the gym to workout. When I got home, I finished reading my chapters in Crazy Love for Bible Study the next day before going to bed.
Tuesday: We went to Bible Study that morning, and we had a good time. We had read the last two chapters in Crazy Love, so that was our last discussion on that book. I got so much out of the book, and we had some really good, convicting talks. After Bible Study, Rebekkah and I took our kids to an Italian place for lunch. It was really good! The kids got a little antsy toward the end, but we had fun. When we got home, I put the kids to bed, and Jude took FOREVER to go to sleep. I was determined that he was going to take a nap, though, and he did eventually go to sleep. Aubrey never napped, and after I finally got her up was when she fractured her collar bone :( It was scary, sad, and stressful. We were supposed to have dinner with my family that night, and we thought we were going to have to cancel after Aubrey's accident. We ended up moving the time back, and Aubrey decided that she did want to go. We ate at Mugshots and had a fun dinner. When we got home, I put Jude to bed and David put Aubrey to bed. Then Rebekkah and I went to the gym again. When I got home, David and I started talking and ended up staying up pretty late. Right as we were finishing our discussion, Aubrey woke up VERY upset. We got her some pain medicine and were able to eventually get her calmed down enough to go to sleep. We figured we were in for a long night, though, so we went on to bed.
Wednesday: Jude got up EARLY, and after a rather restless night, I wasn't too excited. Aubrey woke up still talking about her collar bone hurting, so I called the doctor right when they opened at 8. David stayed home to see when the appointment would be -- we didn't think there would be any point in him going to work if we were going to get an immediate appointment. I ended up missing the call from the nurse because my phone didn't have service. Ughh!! So, then I had to call AGAIN and wait for them to call back. When I finally talked to her, it was close to 9. Frustrating! They told us to go have it x-rayed right away, so we loaded up and went. We went in separate cars, because we were hoping David would be able to go right to work after the x-ray. Well, we had to wait a while, of course. Then we had to wait to find out when our appointment with the orthopedist would be. So we went to Wendy's for lunch while we waited to hear back from the doctor and found out that the appointment wouldn't be until 1:45. I took Jude home at that point, because he was fading fast. I put him to bed, and he went right to sleep. I was worn out after all that, and I just laid on the couch until David and Aubrey got home. He told me about the appointment and put Aubrey down for a nap. It was too late for him to go to work by that point, and I missed tutoring that afternoon. I had to go to church that night to teach, but we weren't sure if Aubrey would be up to going. We decided she would be ok to go as long as we didn't put her in the nursery. So we all went to church that evening. We had a good dinner there, and then my parents wanted to know if they could take Aubrey to Toys R Us. They wanted to get her a little treat after her ordeal. (They love to spoil her -- haha!) They took her while I taught my class. David actually went with them, but he had to come back to the church early, because Jude was having a meltdown in the nursery. He hates the nursery these days, and it's so sad. I had a good time teaching the little 4 and 5 year olds :) After I finished, we came home and prepared for a good night of sleep. Unfortunately, it was not to be. We had a rough, scary night.
Thursday: After our crazy night, Jude (thankfully!!!) slept until 8. I fed him and played with him until Aubrey woke up at 9. She was UNhappy :( She didn't want anything to eat or drink; she just cried. I called the doctor and got her an appointment. I then had to jump in the shower and get ready really quickly. David had offered to meet me at the doctor, but since he had missed the entire day of work the day before, I really wanted to take the kids on my own and let him work. It was a bit stressful, and I was kind of wishing I had let David meet us after all! We survived, though! Jude was just all over the place and into everything. Aubrey had perked up since we left home, but she pretty much wanted to just sit in my lap, and I was trying to be really careful of her collar bone. We saw a really nice doctor, and whoa! He likes to TALK :) He gave us lots of meds for our poor sick girl. I decided not to stop and get the medicine on the way home (the doctor said it would be fine to start it that night), and so we just drove through Chik Fil A for lunch and went home. After we ate, I put the kids right down and was REALLY hoping for a nap myself. Jude didn't nap well, though, so it didn't happen. Aubrey slept pretty well, which I was so happy about. She had lots of sleep to catch up on! Jude was pretty snotty and just couldn't stay asleep :( I got him up and we played until Aubrey got up. Then we watched a little TV and waited for David to get home. He was picking up Aubrey's medicine and pizza on his way home. By the end of the week, this is what our counter looked like!
It was close to 7 by the time he got home, and we were all hungry and happy to see him! We ate and bathed the children (David bathed both of them), and then we put the kids to bed. David and I talked some, and we went to bed early. As in, BEFORE 10pm. Whoa! It was much needed, though.
Friday: The kids and I got up and ate breakfast, and I had a debate with myself about our lunch plans. We were supposed to meet one of my best friends from highschool for lunch. Normally, I would try to postpone it, but she was leaving the next week for 6 months in Africa, and this was my last chance to see her. I watched the kids all morning, and they really did seem to be feeling better. Aubrey's croup cough was completely gone, and all that was left was runny noses for both of them. I decided it would be ok to go on, so we got ready and met Gray at Newks. We had a lot of fun, but Aubrey was NOT friendly. She gave Gray a "mean face" every time she spoke to her and never said a word to her. I was so embarrassed, but I blamed it on the steroids. Haha! Aubrey wasn't bad; she actually sat still and ate her lunch fine. She just wasn't interested in interacting. Whatevs. When we got home, I put Jude down for a nap. He went right to sleep, and then it was Aubrey's turn. While they slept, I got some stuff done around the house. It was a disaster zone after the week we had! Then I got on the internet for a little while until the kids woke up. David got home that afternoon, and we got ready and left. We had to go to Target to return some medicine. We had somehow ended up with two different antibiotics for Aubrey instead of just one. Glad we caught that one and didn't give her both! I went inside to try to get a refund (the extra medicine cost us $83, so we definitely didn't want to pay for it!), and David stayed in the car with the kids. After explaining what happened a couple of time and waiting for the manager to "do some checking" they apologized and gave us our money back. We went to dinner at a Mexican place after that. At first it was enjoyable, but then we had to wait FOREVER for our check, and we were just ready to get out of there! We finally made our exit, and we came home for bedtime. After the kids were in bed, I watched a little TV, David read, and then we went to bed.
Saturday: David let me sleep in, and then we just hung out for a while with the kids. David started watching the Auburn game, and Jude got in on the action :)I got ready and went to meet my mom and grandmother for lunch at Beagle Bagel. We went to the mall for a little while after that. I didn't stay too long, because we were having dinner with David's parents that night, and I needed to help David get the kids ready. When I got home, the kids were both asleep, so David and I talked for a minute until they woke up. I bathed Jude, and then Aubrey woke up. And oh. my. gosh. She was literally in the worst mood she has ever been in in her life. She was totally spazzing out over nothing that we knew of. She literally screamed for an hour. We bathed her, and she didn't want to take a bath, and she was beating on David and just out of control. At first, we were being really sweet and patient with her and trying to figure out what was wrong. But after a while, we told her that her behavior was not acceptable, and she got in trouble. I have never seen her like that, and I really hope it was some leftover side effect from the steroid. She finally snapped out of it when I offered her a cookie that my grandmother had bought for her. She was super sweet and shared about half her cookie with Jude without us asking her to. She said, "I lub (love) sharing with my brother." Precious! I was nervous about how dinner would go after the mood Aubrey had been in, but she was SO cute and actually really hyper! She decided to put on a show for her grandparents and performed all of her little "tricks" (spelled her name, said her ABC's, did her catechism questions, etc.). I thought she was so sweet. After dinner, we stopped at Kroger and then we came home. We put the kids to bed, and then we had a low-key evening before going to bed ourselves.
Thankfully, our week has gotten off to a better start this week! I'm hoping to post some positive things this week after all the downer posts from last week. Ha! :)
