...And Once Again

Well, we almost made it through the week without a trip to the doctor. Almost. On Wednesday Aubrey started running fever. It was 103 Wednesday night. Since she had been exposed to the flu unknowingly, I took her to the doctor Thursday. We didn't get to see our regular doctor, since Thursday is her day off. The doctor we saw couldn't really find anything wrong with her. The good news was that she teasted negative for the flu -- yay! The doctor said she had lots of fluid in her ears (she's had that for a month) but he said she probably just had a fever virus. He prescribed an antibiotic because he said he couldn't be sure her ears weren't causing the fever. David and I really didn't want to put her on another antibiotic, so we decided to wait a few days and see what happened. I felt so rebellious going against the doctor's orders! But sure enough, her fever broke on it's own and she has been fever free today.

I'm getting so tired of going to the doctor every week. It's especially frustrating because Aubrey is not your stereotypical sickly child. I honestly feel like this is all connected to her ears, and if we could just get them completely well she would quit getting sick so much. I'm to the point where I'm ready to get the tubes. I just feel like they won't hurt her, and they'll probably help her. David is still on the fence though, so I'll wait a few more weeks. But if she keeps getting sick I'm going to push for them. Watch out, David! ;o)

In spite of being sick lately, Aubrey is happy most of the time and full of energy. Sometimes too much energy, like today when she refused her nap. Grrr. Oh, on Thursday the doctor did say that her chest sounded clear, so I think we can quit doing breathing treatments! That's a relief. We're all sick of those things. The other night David was giving Aubrey a breathing treatment before bed, and I walked into the room and found this:I don't know if you can tell, but she is OUT. Poor baby. Hopefully we can avoid the doctor next week. Although, if we've managed to be in the sick side of the waiting room at the doctor's office all these times without catching The Swine it will be a miracle indeed!
