Birthday Cake

As I mentioned in my last post, I ordered Aubrey's birthday cake this week. Sadly, I didn't get to get the kind of cake I wanted. I really had my heart set on a little two tiered cake with polka dots and her monogram. As it turns out, in order to do the tiered cake and have it look good proportionally, it would have fed about 70 people! (We're having a small party!) It also would have been expensive! So, I had to give up that dream :o) I ended up going with a cake that will look like a little package with a big bow on top! It was really cute in the picture, so hopefully it will be cute in person too! We will pick it up the day of the party, so if it doesn't look good, it will be too late to do anything about it! A friend from church was teasing me and giving me a hard time for ordering a cake for a one year old (as opposed to making it myself). I told her that I ordered it from Village Confections so the money will go to The Christmas Village -- Aubrey's cake will help save little unborn babies! How cool, right?! I must admit though, I was a little surprised that it seemed "weird" to order a cake for your child's birthday party. That just doesn't seem odd to me. I didn't go crazy -- I got a simple cake that was reasonably priced. I thought lots of people bought cakes for birthday parties? Maybe it was just weird because she's only one? Anyway, if I tried to make the cake myself... let's just say it would NOT be cute, and I would be a HUGE ball of stress over it. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like this, and that can really make for a lot of stress and anxiety :/ ANYWAY, do any of you think it's odd to buy a cake for a birthday party, or does that seem normal to you? Am I just weird? Haha. That's very possible...

Aubrey and I had fun at our weekly lunch with Ashley and Evy today. We really got adventurous today though -- we ALWAYS eat at the same place every week. We don't even have to discuss where to meet. Well, today we went somewhere different! I know, crazy, right?? Ha! I don't think we will make a habit of being this exciting, but it was a fun little change :o)

Aubrey has taken two really good naps today! It has been a WHILE since she's done that. Whoo! As a matter of fact, I'm about to have to go wake her up. I HATE doing that, but I want her to sleep tonight too! Have a great evening :o)

I don't think it's crazy at all to order a cake. Especially if you want it to sit straight on the cake stand. Haha!

It will be a wonderful birthday party and we're so looking forward to it.

You have to have a cake for any birthday party! I have already thought of how I want Evie's cake to look. HA! Can't wait to see pics of the cake. I am sure it will be super cute.
