Disney Vacation: Day One!

We woke up on Monday morning so excited about our first day in the parks! We had breakfast reservations at Chef Mickey's that morning, and I couldn't wait to see how the kids would react to the characters.
Still trying to wake up :)
We rode the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then took the monorail over to The Contemporary where Chef Mickey's is located.
The breakfast buffet was huge, and the food was great!
After a little while I spotted the first character coming out! Around the same time, Jude spotted him, too. He was not impressed.
HA! Seriously, I couldn't believe it when Jude burst into tears. I expected a less than stellar reaction from Aubrey. She is really timid in situations like that, and she had already told us that she was going to be shy around the characters. Ha! But Jude's reaction really surprised me. I don't know if we just hadn't prepared him well enough, or if he reacted that way because he's not overly familiar with the Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto characters? Whatever the reason, he definitely wasn't thrilled. The more characters that came out, though, the more comfortable he became. Aubrey, on the other hand, still wasn't feeling it.
Aubrey eventually came around too, and they both ended up really enjoying the experience!

After breakfast, we walked around the Magic Kingdom for a while. It was so exciting to get our first up close view of the castle.
There was a fun little production at the castle that we watched. (Sorry, I feel like I should know the names of all of these things, but alas! I do not. Disney pro's will have to forgive me. Ha!)
We rode a few rides, too, which was fun!
It was pretty crowded at that point, and the lines were a bit long, so we decided to move on to Hollywood Studios. On the way out of the Magic Kingdom, I met my blog friend, Whitney! We knew were going to both be at Disney that week, and we were hoping to meet, but I never in a million years thought that we would just happen upon each other! It was such a fun surprise! She was so sweet in person, and her kids were super cute. So fun! :) I wish we had gotten a quick picture.

We hopped on a bus and made our way over to Hollywood Studios. Jude took the opportunity to get a little rest in :)
We spent the afternoon there seeing shows and walking around. We loved the live Beauty and the Beast production!
We also saw a fun show with Ariel!

And the kids LOVED playing on the Honey, I shrunk the Kids playground, even though I was a nervous wreck the whole time that we were going to lose one of them in the crowd. Miraculously, we managed to keep up with both of them! ;)
The rest of the afternoon was spent seeing the sights and getting a snack (we had had such a huge breakfast that we skipped lunch altogether!).
We even saw some writing in the sky! ;)
We had dinner reservations at the 50's Prime Time Cafe, which was so much fun! The atmosphere was very authentic 50's, and the waiters and waitresses were hilarious!
We split a DELICIOUS dessert after dinner :)
We walked around a bit more after dinner, and then we headed back to our hotel after a LONG but very fun day!

So, so glad we got to meet you and your sweet family! It had to have been meant to be for us to bump into each other in the MK on the busiest day. Looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip. I'm still feeling sad that we aren't there anymore!
