Home Tour, Part 1

I'm going to start posting pictures of our house the way it looks currently. Because I would rather be watching a movie with my hubby right now than uploading a million pictures to the blog, I'm just going to do a few rooms at a time :)

Living Room:
Don't mind the girls ;)
We made some big changes to this room a several months before we decided to put our house on the market. The biggest change was painting the walls. I LOVE the light neutral color! My style has kind of evolved over the past couple of years, and I've decided that I like the big things like walls and upholstered furniture to be neutral so that I can change smaller things up easily and inexpensively :) Another change is the white couch. We got this couch at an estate sale a while back. It's not in the greatest shape, but I wanted to see if I would like having a white couch before investing much money into it. Turns out I love it! I especially LOVE having a slipcovered couch! When we buy our next couch, I definitely want it to be slipcovered. I've found it to be SO practical with children! If we were staying in this house long-term, I would want to change the fireplace. The dark marble tile isn't really my style, and I've never been in love with the mirror over the mantel. All in all, I love this room, though!

Master Bedroom:

We haven't done much to this room lately. This was actually the first room we painted when we moved into this house almost 4 years ago, and we haven't painted it since. That's probably some kind of record for me! Ha! I'm ready for a change in our bedroom. I don't want to invest a lot of money into a major change, though, so I'm thinking I'm going to paint our furniture! I would also love to make a DIY upholstered headboard. We'll see. I'm not doing anything until we move anyway.

Dining Room:
A while back, I moved this rug from the living room into the dining room. I was also planning on painting the walls a light, blue/gray color. I seem to be slowly phasing red out of our house (I still love red, though!). When we decided to sell our house, I scrapped the plan to paint. I think the room would flow better with the rest of our house and furnishings if it was painted, but I also feel like a red dining room is pretty classic and will hopefully appeal to a lot of buyers :)

More to come...

It looks beautiful, friend! Even though I've seen it a million times, it's fun to see it in a "still image" (i.e. without five children scampering about). Whoever snatches it up will be a fortunate family!

Looks great! I'm the same way -- love neutral big/permanent pieces with pops of colour that are easily changeable. I hope interest in your home continues to pick up! Ours is still on the market too -- bleh.

I love reading your blog! Your life reminds me of my own with my 2 kiddos! I spend a lot of time at home and in the van :)
I love your decor style! I have recently been changing our home to more neutrals as well and getting brave and painting furniture.
Would you mind sharing your family room paint color, it's a great looking neutral! Thanks so much!
