Beach Vacation: Day 4

Monday was a fun, full day! We woke up later than we had planned (8:30), but we were definitely ok with that! The kids surprised us by sleeping in :) We got ready and went to breakfast at the Doughnut Hole, and it was SO good! We ate until we were all stuffed.
Laken and I enjoyed it! :)

So did David and Aubrey! The sweet waitress brought us plates of whipped cream for the kids to eat and play in. They loved it, and we tried not to cringe too much thinking of the sugar high they would be on for the rest of the day. Ha!

As you can see, Carver was a fan of the whipped cream! :) It was hilarious watching him devour it.

Sweet friends!

After breakfast, we headed back to the condo and got ready to spend the afternoon at the beach! Jude was pretty mellow about the whole experience while we were getting ready to walk to the beach...

... but he perked up and got more excited once we were there and all set up under our umbrella :)

Aubrey had SO MUCH FUN playing in the ocean and building sand castles. She honestly just loves the beach, and it's so fun for us to play with her there. When it comes to the beach, I usually just like to sit in a chair and read and sun bathe. But even I love getting up and digging in the sand and getting in the water (a little bit) with Aubrey. She just laughs and giggles and gets so excited, and you can't help but be excited along with her.

Of course, water breaks are necessary even for the most enthusiastic sand castle builders!

Jude did great for a while, and David and I took turns sitting under the umbrella with him. He was pretty content to play with a ball and the water bottle and possibly eat a little sand ;) But then he got super tired and cranky. I held him and ALMOST got him to fall asleep, but he just wouldn't go to sleep with all of the distractions. So David offered to take him back to the condo so that he could nap. What a sweet Daddy!

Once they left, Aubrey and I played with the Arants and Laken. After a while, the Arants took Carver in, and Aubrey, Laken, and I stayed for a while longer. We had a blast, but we were finally ready to go in because it was getting late, and I was worried I might be burning. Turns out I was. As the night progressed, my legs and back got more and more red :-/ I was pretty fried by the end of the night. The good news is that Aubrey didn't burn, and I'm hoping that my redness will result in a slightly darker white (since I don't really "tan"). Haha!

That evening, we left the kids with Laken and went out. I was a little nervous about leaving Aubrey since she had had such a meltdown the night before, and she didn't get a nap that day, but we told her we were going out and that we would be back later, and we told Laken that Aubrey could watch movies. Haha! She ended up doing fine, thankfully. The adults went to La Cantina for dinner, and it was so good! Love that guacamole! :)

After dinner, we went to the Destin Commons and walked around and went in a few stores. We finished out the night with ice cream at Cold Stone. With all this dessert eating we've been doing, I'm going to have gained 10 pounds by the time we get home! :)

When we got home, all the kids were in bed, and Laken had completely cleaned the condo! It was amazing, and we were super impressed :) It was so nice that we were able to go out without the kids. As much as I LOVE the fact that this is a family vacation, and as fun as it is to have the kids here, it is nice to be able to get out with just the adults and laugh and talk uninterrupted a little bit :) We finished out the night with a movie at the condo. Our kids ended up sleeping great that night, which was a huge blessing! We're having a blast on our vacation, and we're so thankful to have been able to do this!
