From Baby to Little Girl: Part I

I have to start by saying that I keep referring to this room as Aubrey's "big girl" room. All I mean by that is that she will transition out of a crib in this room. I don't want you to see pictures and think to yourself that it doesn't look like a big girl room to you! I still want this room to be very much a little girl room. After all, Aubrey isn't even 2 yet! For now, I still want it to look pretty "babyish." It will have a crib in it for several more months, and maybe even another year if she continues to sleep so well in a crib. I think this room will be able to grow with her for lots of years though -- through her little girl years. Of course, I don't plan for her room to still look like this when she goes off to college -- it's a little young. Anyone who knows me though, knows I would redo her room before then anyway! :) It worked out well that we moved and are now doing this room. Otherwise, I think I would be sad about changing her nursery. But since there is no sentimental attachment to anything in the room currently, I'm just excited to see how this room turns out.

So, now that that lengthy introduction is over, here are some pictures. By the way, the desk in the middle of her room is not staying. It won't fit through the door to go into the attic, so we have to take it apart and just haven't gotten to it yet.

This is the same chandelier that she had in her nursery: This is what the room looks like as of now (obviously, we aren't finished painting):Annndd... that's about it for now. Haha. I know it's not much so far, but that's what we've gotten done. We are going to put up a chair rail and some molding on the walls below the chair rail on the white part. My grandmother is working on some window treatments for the windows. She is also going to (hopefully) make some cushions for the window seats. We will just use Aubrey's crib bedding for now, but once we move her into a regular bed, I plan on using a white matelasse coverlet on her bed with Euro shams to match her window treatments and a bed skirt in a coordinating fabric (that I have yet to pick out!).

The great thing about the fabric I picked out for Aubrey's room is that all of the accessories we used in her nursery will still go in this new room. I also love that I was able to paint the walls pink without them being obnoxious. (At least, that's my opinion!) In person, it's a very pale, subtle pink. Hopefully, when her room is finished, it will be a sweet chabby chic room perfect for a sweet little girl!
