Today I went to the doctor for a checkup. I'm 30 weeks, so I will be going to the doctor every 2 weeks instead of 4 now. My appointment today was a little different from any of my others. First of all, I had to wait forever because my doctor had to assist in an emergency c-section. I didn't mind though, because I never plan anything else when I have a doctors appointment. You just never know how long they're going to take.
When I finally saw my doctor, she measured me like usual. I was measuring at 28 weeks instead of 30. She didn't seem overly concerned and said that it's normal to measure 2 weeks plus or minus away from the week you're actually in. But she said she wanted me to have a sonogram just to make sure everything was ok. I haven't had a sonogram since 18 weeks, so she said she just wanted to check Aubrey's growth. Of course, I got really nervous and started praying everything was ok. It helped that my doctor didn't seem too worried - that's the only thing that kept me from freaking out. I just wasn't expecting a sonogram today, so it took me off guard.
It turned out that everything was fine. I ended up enjoying the sonogram. The sonographer said Aubrey was measuring right where she should be to the day. That was a relief! I found out that she is head down. Let's hope she stays that way! My amniotic fluid level looked good. Everything seemed great, thank the Lord. The sonographer said that her estimated weight right now is 3 pounds 7 ounces. She's getting big! Last time when I had a sonogram, you could see her whole body at once. Not anymore! Now you can see her head and a little bit of her shoulders at a time. I'll post pictures when we scan them. She is so cute! At one point she was sticking her little tongue out. Precious!
The sonographer also confirmed that she is a girl. Not that I was worried... well, maybe a little. I'm a worrier, what can I say? Ha! David and I have been talking recently about how we would react if she turned out to be a boy. Apparently I would take it better than he would. This is surprising because he is usually the laid back, easy going one. I guess it makes sense though, since he has been working so hard in the nursery. But no worries, this baby is definitely a girl. Even I could tell this time, and last time I had no clue.
After the sonogram I talked to my doctor, and she said everything looked great. She said I could be measuring 2 weeks behind simply because I'm "a small person." I don't know about that, but I'm very glad to know my baby is ok! Pictures coming soon!

I'm glad Aubrey's really a girl. I told Carrie that if Aubrey turned out to be a boy at birth, that I absolutely forbid us to find out early ever again. I didn't want to have any chance of making another mistake. Carrie of course did not like that plan because she really wants to know in advance. So good thing it turned out to not be an issue.

Haha! This whole blog cracked me up -- well, except for the part about worrying. That can be so tough. But it sounds like you have no reason to be worried. This is all in the Lord's hands. There are so many things we cannot control. You should be enjoying every day with Aubrey! That's the only advice I have to give. Let me know when the nursery's done. I seriously want to see!!!!!
